Author: Harleen Napier I wrote this about finding out a year later that a guy had married a woman he'd cheated on me with. It actually has humor, not anger.

You were a hard one to get over
Every night for over a year I cried over you
Couldn't get you off my mind
Or out of my dreams no matter what I tried
Just when I thought my memories of you would be with me for life
I finally met the woman who became your wife
I would've
I could've been happy for you
Her too
If just a few things hadn't been the way they were
Why didn't you tell me you'd been cheatin' on me
When you told me you leavin' me
Why didn't you say you were gettin' married
More importantly
Did you ever tell Erica about me
For a while I never thought I'd be over you
Always wished it could be like flipping a switch
The day I met Erica it was
A hostess asked me if I was lookin' for your Mrs. when I asked for you
Yeah that's how I heard
I would've
I could've been happy for you
Her too
If just a few things hadn't been the way they were
Why didn't you tell me you'd been cheatin' on me
When you told me you leavin' me
Why didn't you say you were gettin' married
More importantly
Did you ever tell Erica about me
Take a good look the next time you see her
Tell me who you see
'Cause there's no way she doesn't look a little like me
She ain't tall She ain't blonde
There was a time when I would've liked that
Knowing you wanted that me that way
But now that time has passed & I haven't missed you once
Not since the sixth of that October
I would've
I could've been happy for you
Her too
If just a few things hadn't been the way they were
Why didn't you tell me you'd been cheatin' on me
When you told me you leavin' me
Why didn't you say you were gettin' married
More importantly
Did you ever tell Erica about me
Author's note:
This was the very first song I ever wrote & completed. It is nowhere near my best work, but I've always wanted to get this out. Obviously it's about a guy I knew who went on to marry the woman he was cheating on me with. I'm over it now, but I wasn't the night I wrote this, on September 17, 2004.
