The Great Beyond

With outstretched arms and dampened hair forming to my cheeks

I open myself up to the sky, begging for the chariot to descend

Wrap your wings around me, I can bleed no more

The time has come to take me home.

Come down and collect your fallen angel.

I never did belong here anyways

And as you carry me high into the clouds

I’ll look down upon the earth through blurry tear-filled eyes

When I arrived on the eleventh evening of March,

A star burnt out in the sky and its glow went into my soul

But now that glow too has darkened

And just as the last drop of silver leaks from my veins

My mind will race faster than my heart as it starts to cease

The crystalline flakes drift upon a liquor scented breeze

And then dive sharply into the water to emerge in a hale of leaves

They create a cyclone and it crashes down upon the city

Winged are the horses and blessed are their feet

Escaping the catastrophe just in time to see society fall apart

In this last day of solace the true meaning of life has been found

Everything that I valued and loved has been lost

And replaced with the empty holes that gaped away at my insides

Causing the collapse of the world as I know it

Jesus, I’m ready to come home

And I know who you are sending down to rescue me
