PLANS TO GO

When I was five, my family was taken away from me.

“Really, it must have been scary.”

Yeah, it was. I was in a dark hallway, and my dog kept barking at something. When I turned around, my brother was gone. I ran down into the hallway and saw a glimpse of an open door. Light shined through, like a radiant, sunlight. Then, I saw feathers, my brother’s feathers.

“So then what?”

I called my mother, she answered right away. I yelled at her of what to do, she said to hide in the garage. I yelled, saying I couldn’t leave my brother and I walked to enter the room…

“…yeah, and?”

She…She screamed at me.

NO! DON’T YOU DARE!! I WON’T LOSE YOU, TOO!! DON’T GO IN!!”

“Scary.”

Yeah.

“…then what?”

After that, I was so scared, I yelled back.

THEN WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?! WHAT?!”

After that, I threw down the phone and ran into the garage and ran into my bed, wrapping the blankets over me. I waited for daylight to come, because I knew I would be safe then.

…when I awoke I was in my bed.

“Like, transportation?”

Maybe, I thought I was safe. But when I looked out the window…I saw a face.

“What face?”

An eerily, calm, pale, and shallow face…it wasn’t a skull, but, it wasn’t pieced together very well, either. It was pale, white.

“Scary…”

No joke. After that, I ran into my mom and dad’s room. I didn’t even bother looking into my brother’s room…I already knew what was there.

“Creepy…”

Yeah. So after I ran in, I jumped in my mom’s bed. She looked at me and my father then asked what was wrong. I told her about the face, she shushed at me and went out to check it out with my father. I yelled at them not to.

NO!! DON’T!! THEY’LL TAKE YOU, TOO!!”

But they never listened, and they were gone, just as the Sun began to rise.

“What about you?”

They never take me. They don’t dare to touch me.

“Why?”

I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I know something they don’t.

“You…know something?”

Yes.

“What?”

I know…that they could never hurt me. Because I and they are on different realms, unless I forget about them, they’ll never get me.

“I don’t get it?”

It’s because I hold them in my heart, they feed off the fear of the known, but take the people who are oblivious to their existence. I, however, hold them to my heart, knowing they are there and facing them without fear. Because the night they took my family away, I knew that I would rather be taken away as well, and stared them in the eye, as if daring them to touch me.

“But…Oh my! What will happen to me?!”

It’s your choice, fear will make them come, and ignorance will make them selfish for attention. Just keep them in your heart and never forget.

Because things, all things, react on how you think of them.

“Do you think you’ll see your family again?”

Maybe, they’re not dead. But I’m sure when they get bored, they’ll come back.

Because what’s the point of having someone with they don’t even know you exist?
