I’ve been all around the world

Throughout space and time

I’ve been to Neverland and back

I’ve stayed in Middle Earth

But never have I been more here

Than the summer I was alive

After years of searching

I finally found the spark

I unearthed who I really was

And all it took was a week

In that solitary week

I found more than I ever thought possible

Love, peace, joy, and friendship

I’ve been blessed beyond belief

But most important of all

I found myself

There are some people I should thank for this

The ones who brought the me in me out

Doubtful they even know who they are

So they’ll never know what they mean to me

They let me laugh, they let me cry

They let me talk in strange accents

They helped me put myself together

And they’re still a bright spot in my day

Should I tell them this?

Undoubtedly

But I am just so scared

Doubts crowd my mind

Threatening to drive me mad

The only way to escape it

Is to take that jump and tell them

But until that day I sit here waiting

Watching as life hurries on around me

What am I waiting for?

I don’t know

But still I sit here waiting

Trying to recapture that feeling

Of the summer I was alive
