Paris Is Burning

The Eiffel tower burned tonight

The city of love reduced to ashes

A fragment of what it once was

People created it and destroyed it

For this is the way of man

Find something beautiful and embrace it

try making it better and only destroy it

The Eiffel tower burned tonight

A symbol of love and peace died tonight

Where an artist worked his pallet

And the world looked upon him and found hope to feed upon

This is where hope started and burned

Rocket propelled grenades and tanks replace

Our joy and pride now

The Eiffel tower burned tonight

Racial unity went up in smoke

Equality was banished and now it burns

A symbol of what the world has come to

The poor are separated from the rest with a wall of fire

A straw broke tonight and someone started a fire

The first of more to come

That’s why the Eiffel tower burned tonight

And there’s no one left to care
