Chapter 2

Julie are you okay,” someone whispered from across the snow covered ground. Pulling her coat closer she took several steps forward, her boots crunching in the heavy snow.

I am fine,” she whispered softly.

Good,” the man whispered. His face was covered slightly with a large hooded coat, but there was one distinctive feature and that was his eyes. They were the most amazing dark blue eyes anyone could have ever seen, and there was a twinkle of light in them.

May I ask you a question,” she asked with a half smile.

Sure,” he said as he turned and started walking forward.

Who are you,” she asked politely.

The man stopped in his tracks, but did not turn around. “I cannot answer that question,” he said his voice barely above a whisper. He then blew out a shallow breath and continued walking forward.

Where are you from,” Julie asked catching up with him.

Your future,” he said turning around.

My future,” Julie whispered. “What do you mean,” she said her voice shaky and unsteady even in her own ears.

Look,” he said frowning.

His face was still completely covered except for his eyes and she had a certain urge to push the coat away from his face.

He started to speak again and that is when Julie gave in to the temptation. Her hand snaked up unconsciously and pushed away the material hiding his face.

Don’t,” he screamed pushing her hand away.

Why,” she asked backing away fearfully.

You cannot see my face, not just yet anyway. I am from your future and if you see my face it could cause your entire future to change, for the worse.”

Why are you here,” Julie asked cautiously.

I am here to show you the truth,” he said turning around again and continuing to walk forward again.

Where are we going,” she asked picking up her pace, so she could keep up with him and his long stride.

All of a sudden, he stopped and Julie came within inches of crashing into him. “Here is where we are going.”

Julie stepped to his side and looked at the area in front of her. Like a might rush of wind the nighttime turned to day again.

Beyond the hill nearby lay a small house. The lights in the house were on and Julie could see shadows making there way around the rooms. The smell of chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon filled the air suddenly.

That is my mother’s house,” Julie whispered.

Yes, it is,” the stranger whispered softly.

Is it my mother, is that why you are here,” Julie asked.

No,” the man said walking towards the house.

He stopped near a small window and peeked inside, while Julie caught up. “Do you see the family,” he asked as she also peeked into the window.

Yeah,” Julie said looking at him and then back at the family inside. “Why do they look, so sad,” she asked.

I can’t tell you, just yet. You must figure it out on your own, but I will leave you with a few hints, per say.”

Okay,” she whispered as she continued watching her family from the window.

Your future may be in danger,” he paused, stood, and looked at her with his eyes slightly changing.

Danger,” she said quickly. “What do you mean?”

You will find out soon enough, and that is why I am here to help you. Your future may be in danger and I am here to show you something different.”

Different,” Julie whispered.

Yes, I am here to show you how badly your life may turn out, if you make some decisions that you are about to make.”

I don’t understand,” Julie said quickly.

I will help you understand soon, but for now you must wait. You also have to go back now and keep this a secret.”

But why,” Julie asked.

If you say anything to anyone, I cannot help you. You must keep this a secret for now. You must go back now.”

When am I going to see you again,” Julie asked.

I will show up in the places you least expect, but you must keep an open mind. If you don’t believe I am real, then I cannot help you.” With that, he stepped away from her and a bright light came upon him.

Julie shielded her eyes and then when she looked back the mysterious stranger was gone. “No,” she screamed out. “I want more answers,” she cried out falling to the ground her face buried into her hands as she sobbed.
