I came in

Got settled in & turned the TV on

The movie I was on was getting ready to end

I looked at the clock

It read 7:29

As soon as I changed the channel

I heard something I never expected to

By 7:32 I was numb

I couldn't move

I couldn't speak

I couldn't breathe

It was a wonder I could even blink

For the rest of the night

All I heard were those words repeating in my mind

I couldn't believe what I'd heard

There were no words to describe my pain

Come to think of it

There were none to describe yours either

I couldn't move

I couldn't speak

I couldn't breathe

It was a wonder I could even blink

I have similar scars

But I keep them hidden like you tried to

I just can't take what would be said if others knew

I couldn't move

I couldn't speak

I couldn't breathe

It was a wonder I could even blink

It was just a night

But it became a time I'll never forget

My life changed at 7:32 that night

Never to be the same again

I couldn't move

I couldn't speak

I couldn't breathe

It was a wonder I could even blink

That March night

After 7:32

Author's Note: This is another one that was inspired by a true story that I wrote on October 13, 2004. I was flipping through the TV channels on a March night in 1999 & landed on the news when a story came up about someone I knew.
