Different

A/N: Third Fiction here, right before your eyes. I took a break from writing and concentrated on my personal website but now I’m very much inspired to write and to those who’ve read my past fictions, I’m currently getting back to them (on our old computer). Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one. PD

Chapter One: A Minimally Significant Loss

I got up from my bed and stretched my arms widely and as I looked into the mirror I could see that my eyes were still swelling from crying so much last night. Now why was I crying? Well…I was at Frances’s house yesterday afternoon and to make the story short and less complicated let’s just say that yesterday was the last time I saw a friend here in Atheliere.

Frances struggled as she carried her luggage to their car. “Here, let me help you.” Charrisse, Frances’s closest friend, said as she carried Frances’s luggage to the car without a sign of struggling. She seemed really serious. I wasn’t used to seeing her that way so I was really uncomfortable with it cause I always saw her making a fuss of such little things, like breaking a nail.

“Well, uh, I guess this is goodbye.” Frances said sounding tearful yet managing to squeeze in a smile between. “Thanks for coming guys, and Heather tell Nathan and Mark I said goodbye.”

“Heather,” Frances’s mom paused then smiled at me, obviously looking for words to say then she turned to Charisse. “Charisse…umm, I guess I’m running out of things to say. Well, I just want to say sorry for pulling away my dear Frances from both of you. I know you’ve been friends for so long and this is all so sudden but you know, sometimes we just need to make a few adjustments.”

True, it was all so sudden. I sort of understand how Best Friends Forever doesn’t really mean forever because a lot of things could come in between but who knew that what I thought could be forever for Charisse and Frances (and maybe, me) would end so quickly?

After a few minutes of talking, Frances was called over to the car, it was time to leave. It was time to say goodbye. Frances looked over from her waving father then to us then she broke down crying. Charisse started crying too but I didn’t shed a single tear. I guess you could say I look out-of-place in this best friend moment but no I didn’t feel like it, I guess I’m used to being left out, after all it was I who squeezed in between their friendship almost 3 years ago and I grew to understand that I was just an addition.

Before Frances rode in the car she handed Charisse a box then she smiled at me and handed me a smaller box then she said goodbye. The weird thing is that I only cried last night I guess just then did my emotions strike.

So as a matter of fact I did lose a friend. Sigh, sometimes life’s just like that and we either learn to accept it or live in denial for as long as we can take. I looked over at the box that Frances handed me, I never opened it yesterday I guess I was too preoccupied because apart from the departure of a friend, I stressed over today: the first day of 7th grade.

So, what do you think? A bit dramatic for starters but I promise that this is only for the beginning. Reviews will be greatly appreciated and decent criticism will be accepted with understanding.

---Reality sometimes sucks and we can never change that

but we have dreams where we can temporarily escape

and maybe one faithful day, they’ll come true.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed, shall we?
