Real life tales of the unintended
Tells of an accidentally befriended
Oblivious to years come past
A companionship that cannot last

To seal the pact that wasn’t there
Displaying signs you truly care
Thinking friendship can’t wear off
Then finding that you’d turn and scoff

Left behind with broken hearts
Not love to blame, still torn apart
For lovers’ false love did not end
Instead the loss of my own friend

Crushed the garden we had grown
Caged the bird that once had flown
Tainted fragrance, poisoned flower
Clipped white feathers bloodied sour

Slipping are our hands clasped tight
Dulling are the eyes once bright
What was there now gone away
A scattered photo on display

Bitter tear drops fall so dry
Daring not to ask her why
Devastated thoughts impaired
Asking was it really there

Left behind the broken hearted
Finishing what I had started
Too much ache to comprehend
The fading soul I once called friend
