"Will you love me?" He asked
From beneath her glass panes
She looked on from above
While he sang in the rain

"Will you love me?" He sang
Again with such passion
Still while she watched
In a most quiet fashion

"I will love you," she said
As the wind caught her words
"When this wingless love flies
Even higher than birds."

"I will love you," she sang
Again with a smile
"When blind eyes can see
And you prove you're worthwhile."

"You shall see!" He cried
With his face so alight
"You will love me!" He danced
On that dark rainy night

"But only when stars
Can shine in the day
I will love you at once
If your love will not stray."

"I will love you when words
Cannot make a sound
When glittering rain
Falls from the ground."

"And that," she concluded
"Is the one golden key."
Though inside she knew
That her wish could not be.

And so was her plan
So certain she knew
That her wish, as their love
Could never come true

But still he jumped high
Despite her requests
As though he were touched
By an angel so blessed

And thus he was gone
Lost in the distance
As if dancing and singing
Was his only existance

With a soft bitter smile
And a hint of regret
She turned from her window
With a mind to forget

Days fluttered by
As years melted away
She no longer remembered
What became of that day

It came to the point
When the thought was a dream
When the dream did not linger
Or so had it seemed

As she lay in her bed
She fell into sleep
And awoke in a world
That existed in dreams

She walked on a cloud
And skipped in the sky
While around her a bird
With no wings learned to fly

Where the sky should have been
The ground was instead
Silver rain showered down
Just as she said

And beyond the horizon
Danced a lone man
Who sang with such joy
When soft music began

Just as she called
She opened her eyes
Lying in bed
At the break of sunrise

"A dream," she whispered
A hand on her heart
But a tap on the window
Gave her a start

And there he was
Smiling below
Reaching for her
In the sun's quiet glow

"No dream," he said softly
"It's as real as it seems."
She looked and she saw
That world of her dreams

Rain fell from the ground
And wingless birds flew
But she couldn't believe
What she saw was all true

Stars twinkled above
Though it was day
And she heard his soft words
Though he did not say

"Will you love me?" She heard
While his lips did not move
Her blind eyes now seeing
He had nothing to prove

So she fell in his arms
And danced in the rain
While their wingless love flew
And the stars shined again
