Here’s chapter 2, Enjoy:
I groaned as my alarm clocked knocked me out of my happy slumber and back into reality. I rolled my eyes at the stupid clock and turned it off. I got out of bed, stretched, like a cat and headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower. It was nearly 11:00. I had plenty of time to get ready for my noon class, Chemistry. What kind of moron assigned a class at that time of day? I rolled my eyes and headed to the bathroom, shutting the door behind me.
I got out of the shower fifteen minutes later. Feeling refreshed and wide-awake, thanks to the water spraying in my face. I looked at my reflection after I had towel dried my hair. I was the average looking girl, nothing too special. Brown hair still heavy with water droplets, hung just past my shoulders and big brown eyes stared back at me. I was of average height, five foot five to be exact. I sighed, some girls have all the luck…
I emerged from the bathroom a few minutes later, I rummaged around looking for something clean to wear, I found a pair of jeans and a tank top. I got dressed quickly and glanced at the clock, it was 11:10. Still had plenty of time…
I made my way to the kitchen and had a quick bowl of cereal before I sat down on the sofa in the living room and turned the television on… flipping carelessly through the channels. Nothing but soap operas or news. Nothing good on at this time of day… I sighed as I got up and made my way to the window, staring out at the tree that only slightly brushed against the window… I needed to get that cut back… The landlord wouldn’t do it… that’s for sure. “Cheapskate.” I muttered as I turned from the window and glanced at the clock. 11:30. I had better get going if I wanted to make it to my class on time… the professor wouldn’t accept my tardiness again.
I grabbed my textbooks from where they lay unopened on the coach. And grabbed my keys from the table by the door before I headed out and after making sure the door was locked, I headed to my car to drive the few miles to the campus. Not feeling up to walking the short distance today.
I started the car and pulled out of the parking lot at this late in the morning there was barely any traffic. Though, there usually wasn’t. This was a college town, everything revolved around the college…
I sighed as I pulled into my usually parking spot, every time I drove, I parked here. I glanced at the clock, 11:43, perfect timing. Looks like I would actually be early for once. A thing that never happened… I got out of the car, hauling my bag with me and locked up before heading to the one class that I had today… Chemistry. Don’t get me wrong, I love the class, just not the professor … she hated me and I knew it. I had been late too many times and that had earned me a number one spot on her bad side. It wasn’t like I tried to be late; her classes were always, at weird times…
“Hey Lily!” a voice suddenly yelled, breaking me from my thoughts. I turned around to see Terri running from her Dorm building to catch up with me.
“Hey Terri.” I smiled at her as I slowed down to give her a fair chance to catch up to me.
“Thanks for filling in for me at the restaurant last night.” was the first thing she said to me after she had gotten her breath back.
“No problem.” I shrugged.
“Let me make it up to you.” Terri pleaded.
I shook my head, “No thanks.” I said, “It was no big deal, really, Terri.” That was such a lie, But I couldn’t let her know what I was really thinking, could I?
“I don’t care. I’m going to do something for you, whether you want me to or not.” she smiled at me before running off again. I rolled my eyes, Terri could be so strange at times…
I made my way towards me classroom, I still had ten minutes, plenty of time. As I walked I thought about Terri and how much I envied her, she was the perfect girl for most guys… skinny, blonde hair, blue eyes and tall… Well, I didn’t envy her, it was just I was the complete opposite of her. Mousy brown hair that I had to use a half can of frizz control mousse to help keep it that way all day, dull brown eyes an average height, unlike Terri who stood a few obvious inches taller than me, and almost a foot with the type of heels she wears all the time.
I sighed, stepping into the classroom, with five minutes to spare. The professor was sitting at her desk when I stepped in to the room. She glanced up as I entered, “Well, Miss. Jacobs, you actually managed to show up on time today.” Her voice was curt and cold. “I’m slightly impressed.”
I didn’t know how to respond, how was I supposed to respond to that? So, I just went and took my seat, which happened to be right smack in the middle of the classroom. I sat down, sighing, five minutes to spare. What to do? What to do? I drummed my fingers on the desk, completely bored. I hadn’t expected to get here early, but here I was with just nothing to do-
My thoughts were interrupted by yet another voice. “So, what are you doing sitting here al by your lonesome?” I recognized the voice instantly, and rolled my eyes. Lance, one of the only boys who actually looked at me… he had had a crush on my ever since Orientation, or so he said. Don’t get me wrong he was a great guy and all, but I would always see him as a very good guy friend and really nothing more than that.
“Hey Lance.” I smiled at him as he sat down next to me, ignoring the fact that that wasn’t even his, but there was Lance for you. His blue eyes were dancing, as usual. They were always like that, unless he was angry, which to be honest, I’ve only seen him like that once, and let me tell you, it was not very pretty…
“How’s my beautiful flower this morning?” he asked, smirking, He knew how much I hated being called that… I ignored it though; I didn’t want to have to put up with it today. Put up with what I knew would come if I were to yell at him for calling me it; I was not in the mood.
“Just fine, and you?” I asked as I glanced towards the door and watched as a few fellow students entered.
“You don’t look fine…”he said, watching me closely, “Are you feeling okay?” he asked, actually sounding concerned.
“Yea, I am.” I said, not wanting to get into the details.
“No you’re not, I can see it in your eyes.” He said, “Something is up with you, I can tell these things, remember?” he asked a smiling playing at his lips.
I sighed, not wanting him to persuade me farther, “Fine, if you must know… I took Terri’s shift over at the restaurant last night, so I’m dog tired. This week has been pretty tough and tiring. My boss is being the biggest bitch to me and I have no clue as to why. I have no clue what I did, but now she pretty much hates me.”
Lance was about to say something to me when the bell of some sorts rang and the professor stood up, clearly intent on getting started. The last thing either of us wanted was get the talking to from her for even thinking about uttering a word while she was speaking or about to anyway.
Yea, this pretty much was a filler, sorry! The vampire will either come next chapter or the following one, but probably the next one…and that should be up soon, so until then, see ya and review!
