Forever, For Never

.i.

There is a girl

With no name

Who never lived

And thinks she never will.

And this girl,

She sits, and she watches,

And she lets the world pass her by without a glance her way.

.ii.

There is a boy

Who named himself

And killed himself

Only to live again.

And this boy,

He hates though his life,

And he uses his fists when the world would soothe his pain.

.iii.

No Name meets Own Name,

Together, forever, for never,

Either and neither and both.

He watches her as she watches him,

Brings her to life,

And delights in the fire and the fight

That burn in her eyes and burns on his lips when he finally tries to kiss her.

.iv.

She died because she did not watch

And did not see

When the world decided to kill her.

Water to drown her, water to drown him,

And he lived because he could not die,

Could not join her,

And could not lie in the warmth of the flames he had created.

.v.

And now they are never, forever.
