Dusty little town

in the middle of a desert

can't you feel the breeze

all the earth is inert

nothing grows here

not a flower in sight

walkin for miles

nothing in this blight

emptiness fills the land

and all the people in it

you know you feel this

loneliness buried in the grit

dig deep for water

the breath of the land

invisible except to Gaia

won't let us live off the sand

see those stars above

we used to skim the clouds

as we reached for the heavens

and hell is what we found

these dunes pull us under

so we no longer breathe

under the burning suns

oh why can't we leave

the night comes swift

chasing the heels of the fifth moon

stare at those stars forever

pray it will rain soon

hope lifts our eyes as

dark rain hits the ground

in the magic of the night

a sonorous splashing sound

on the second evening

hear the storm clouds of content

the pebbles wash the shore

of the world we hadn't meant

see those stars above

we used to skim the clouds

as we reached for the heavens

and hell is what we found

but we pressed on

and forge our trials anew

in this hot desert land

under the sky so blue

under the sky so blue
