Amber eyes stared into the kaleidescope of a shattered mirror. Their compound gaze, sinister and arachnid, as if those callous pits could devour the whole world. Dark as black holes and just as inescapable, their annulus reflecting a halo of golden sin.

Simultaneously, they blinked. Startled. Fractal, fractioned. Confusion replacing malice in dilated panic.

'Who the hell'

A face resolved itself at the edge of the glass, blurred and distorted in the warped mosaic of shards. A stern visage, its features rugged but handsome despite the spatters of grease and blood. Two fingers traced a line over a fresh gash that marred the seamless countenance, tentatively probing at the matting of stained blond hair. A hiss of pain, and the digits retreated, pulling back to find streams of crimson gliding down their tips.

'What the fuck'

Looking up, the face, no - his face - stared back in a grimace of fear and disgust. But /his/ face? That couldn't be right. For one thing, it was much too young; for another, it was distinctly male.
