A/N: This story came to me in a dream. Literally. I dreamt I was in a dark, futuristic New York, and Tia, Lance, and Falconor (from my story Crying Dry) were there. And (this is the weirdest part) Falconor was in a flying wheelchair. Yes I am serious. I twisted it into this cool freedom-fighting cyborg story!!! Please review!!!
Chapter 1
“Deltain, come in.” Rosa spoke into a small microphone on her mechanical wrist. “Rosa calling Deltain. Deltain, come in!” Rosa flicked white blonde hair out of light blue eyes. Her face was porcelain pale, but her hands and feet were cybertronic. She wore a simple blue outfit, a little worse for wear.
“Deltain here. What’s the deal sis?” A tired-sounding voice, slightly distorted by the communicator, answered her.
“Where is everyone?” Rosa asked. “I need some action.”
“Well.” Her brother replied. She could practically hear his smirk. “Esadonna is standing right next to you.”
Rosa sighed and rolled her eyes. Deltain got like this sometimes. “I know that!” She said exasperatedly. “Where are the others?”
“Up your butt and around the corner. Seriously though, Kade and Kale are on block E-14, surrounded by a good two dozen drones. Fletcher is further down on H-5, in major trouble by the looks of it. Sterling and Jace are together on B-22, no drones anywhere nearby. Farrah is one block away from you, D-19.”
“We’ll go to help Fletcher and meet Farrah and the twins on the way. Are his life-signs stable?” Rosa sighed.
“Mostly. I think he’s sustained a non-fatal injury. You better get down there though.” Deltain answered. “Deltain out.” The line went dead.
“So what are we doing?” Esadonna said, arms crossed over her chest in a bored fashion. She tied her long, thick raven hair into a ponytail. She was more muscular than Rosa, with hard gray eyes, tanned skin and a sharply boned face. Her outfit was a dark green, and the thick fabric was almost worn through in places.
“To help Fletcher down on H-5. Let’s go!” Rosa’s cybertronic fingers sprouted razor-sharp claws and she dived at the nearest brick wall, tearing out the mortar as she crawled along it.
Ever since the robots had taken over New York City, they had become intent on completely eradicating the human race. Only a few refugees remained, and they hid mostly underground, hoping the robots wouldn’t find them. Some of these were cybertrons, robot/human hybrids. A cybertron was created when a human was fatally injured. Other cybertrons would find them, and give them robotic implants so that they would survive, but there was a price. Cybertrons were freedom fighters.
Esadonna raised her robotic arms to the heavens, and a grappling hook shot out of each one, embedding themselves high up in buildings on either side of the street and lifting her into the air. She removed one of them from the building it was stuck in, and before she could fall, stuck it in the next one. She repeated with the other side, and was soon swinging along at quite a pace.
Rosa dropped from her current wall when she reached the next block. “Farrah!” She called, looking around. It wasn’t exactly safe to shout in this day and age, but she could handle almost anything this robot-infested city could throw at her, short of the whole armada itself.
“Don’t yell you idiot! I’m right here! Do you want to bring all hell down on us?” An aggravated Farrah stepped from a nearby alleyway.
“All hell is on standby right now. This city is a ghost town except for the occasional patrol.” Rosa laughed. It was the first time in a while she had done so. The sound was bitter and biting in the cold wind, and quickly cut short.
Farrah narrowed her honey-brown eyes in an irate sort of way. “Yeah, but if one of them find you they call everyone and a half to come and help them blow you off the face of the earth!” She spat, blowing a piece of her golden, curly hair from her face, only to have it float back to its original position. She wore a dirty tan colored outfit that looked as though it was made of burlap.
“We’re going to save your brother’s hide. You coming?” Rosa asked, preparing to spring back onto the wall.
Farrah shrugged. “Why not?”
Esadonna raised her arms again, and left the ground just as Farrah’s plane-like wings unfolded from her mechanical torso, and jets on her mechanical feet sprang to life, granting her liftoff.
As the three girls sped through the city, Rosa thought back to the terrible accident, which had made her and all of her childhood friends cybertrons. It had been before the robots had fully taken over, so humans still operated out in the open. They had been on a city trolley with their parents when robots had attacked, killing the driver and sending the trolley out of control. Another trolley had slammed into it’s side, making it roll. Their parents in the back of the trolley had all been killed instantly. Various parts of everyone had been crushed, soon to be replaced with robotic implants. Deltain, however, had gotten the worst. He had been flung from the trolley and then run over by a cargo van. Miraculously, he had not been instantly killed. Although for what had to be done to save him he might as well have been.
They reached the spot where the twins, Esadonna’s older brothers, stood, finishing off the last of the robots around them. Rosa jumped to the pavement. Esadonna retracted her built-in grappling hooks. Farrah landed. “Hey baby sis.” Kale greeted Esadonna, lowering the gigantic blaster that was his right arm.
“And Farrah and Rosa.” Kade completed, lowering his left arm, which was the same as Kale’s right. Both twins had long chestnut hair, gray eyes, and heavy builds. They looked almost exactly the same, and had the same sharp-boned hard look as their sister.
“Fletcher’s in serious trouble.” Esadonna asked impatiently. “Want to blow some more things up?” She obviously did. She readied her arms to launch.”
“Always.” Kale said, as it was his turn to speak.
“Meet you on block H-5!” Rosa again clawed her way up the wall, hoping they wouldn’t reach their destination too late.
