and mailed it as it rained

and it’s hard for me to be strong

my mind is full of fear and woe
for there’s still no mail from you

and i’ve started to lose hope
life’s abandoned her former glow
but death’s left me his rope

they took me away two years ago
and now i wear a hospital gown
but my letter was finally answered--
