I stand in the Light

But I still make a shadow -

The line of my misdeeds

Fall lengthy behind me.

Sometimes I wonder

Why I'm facing this way,

Like a flower drawn to

The life-giving Light.

Then I remember the shadow

Behind me and the darkness

It embraces, not what I need,

But what I now hide.

My shadow is real,

Ironic,

But the Light is so bright

It will dispel even that,

On that day when

I join the Sun giving it,

Then my shadow will be no more

For I'm so close to the Light.
