Sitting at home,
All of a sudden the phone rings,
Pick up and hear a voice,
A stranger at first,
Listen closely to the details being told,
Then rush off in the cold.

Driving down the street,
Could it be this easy,
In the next few minutes something can change,
Walking through the door,
To watch the future unfold,
Seeing if it’s possible to be this bold.

Talking steadily out the mouth,
Making simple conversation,
Wondering what to say next,
Mind racing fast ahead,
Standing there shy,
Not even knowing why.

A day goes by,
Phone ringing again,
A different voice to be heard,
Random thoughts enter,
It’s the stranger calling,
Who wants a date,
Could this be a mistake.

Unable to take no for an answer,
Rushing off into the night,
Once again,
Agreeing hastily,
To talk aimlessly.

The night coming to an end,
Begging for a kiss,
Unable to say yes or no,
Wishing for it to pour snow,
Run away like an angel,
Instead of standing there fragile.
