Could Have Been There
I wish I could have been there,
For you when you were feeling sad.
But my timing was a bit off,
And now you are gone and that makes me feel bad.
Right now I'm not feeling very glad.
-
You were always there for me,
When I was feeling blue.
And at that moment in time,
I wish I could've be there for you.
I know you would've done it for me too.
-
You know you were a great friend,
You always helped friends' hearts to mend.
Very kind and caring to ones in need,
Feeling no selfishness or greed.
-
If I had been there by your side,
When everything went wrong.
I wonder every night and day,
Would it have made your life last long?
That day I heard the church bells ring "ding dong".
-
I cried and cried when I heard the news,
I cried my self to sleep that night.
For, you were a wonderful friend to me,
How could I have made things right?
I was never meant to be your glowing light.
-
I wish I could have been there,
For you when you were feeling sad.
But my timing was a bit off,
And now you are gone and that makes me feel bad.
Right now I'm not feeling very glad.
And all the grieving has driven me mad.
