I trace the outline of your scars
they feel bumpy under my fingers
you call them ugly imperfections
but I can see their beauty
and a life hiding behind them
a little boy bursting with stories
I one day wish to learn every one.

You smile with your rosy lips
white crooked teeth reveal themselves
I can’t help but smile back
and when I’m close, I see the chip
another story, another imperfection
that I love just the same.

You hide your face with shame
but I'll stare into your eyes
stunning dark green eyes
I'll give you one thousand smiles
each one of them reaching my eyes
to let you know, you're just what I want.
