Summary: Aura Dell has had one dream ever since she was young. That is to have someone fall for her. Simple enough? How is that supposed to happen when she's invisible? Literally invisible... considering the fact that she's dead.

A Dream Beyond Death (A/N: Crappy title! I know, dammit! I suck at these!)

"Aura, dear, please settle down... And wear your seatbelt."

"But it's annoying!" I whined. "It suffocates me!"

The beautiful blonde woman sitting on the car's driver seat glanced sideways at me, a frown on her lovely features. What I'd do to have that face! Unfortunately, I had no choice but to look more like my Dad. It wasn't really THAT bad... just regretful.

"All right but next time, wear your seatbelt." My mum gave me the look over and smiled. "You look so beautiful with that outfit."

I scowled. Firstly because I wasn't really - beautiful, I mean. I had strawberry blonde hair that was unevenly cut due to an uneventful encounter with a piece of chewed chewing gum. It was just my luck that my mother took me to a crazy hair stylist. She had seemed harmless to me at first but what she did to my hair was downright cruel. She had cut the strands with gum stuck on them. However, instead of evening my hair out, she cut it into different lengths. Now I had a variety of lengths which reached to my waist while others reached to my shoulders, others only reached to my earlobes and all these other lengths. And just when I was about to snap at her to do my hair right, my mum went in and started gushing at how much she loved it and stuff. So now, I was stuck with this hair-do until she got bored with it or until I reach 21 years of age and get out of the house. My face wasn't exactly an epitome of classical beauty but I'm not ugly. But like I said, I'm not beautiful either. Maybe I'll be daring enough to call myself pretty but never beautiful. As for my body, I'm not slim or skinny. In fact, I have a bit of a tummy. It's not visible though unless I wear skintight clothes - which will NEVER happen! And I stress that to one times infinity! My height is also pitiful. 5'5". I was also told that there was a slim chance that I would keep on growing so it's a hopeless case.

Now my eyes. I pride myself on my eyes. They're quite lovely, if I do say so myself. They are both mainly forest green in color. However, the left one had some steel-gray specks around the pupil while the right one had some hazel specks. I know for a fact that a lot of people would kill to have eyes like mine. Besides, these eyes are my weapons in capturing myself a guy.

No, don't laugh. That idea didn't originally come from me. It was from my mum. You see, she felt like having a mother-daughter talk one day and that was the main idea that came out. It was SO embarrassing especially since my guy cousin was listening in. He was laughing so hard at my red face and my mum was oblivious to it. It was a smart move not to tell my mum about my secret dream of someone falling in love with me.

Now I bet you think that is so corny and old-fashioned. Maybe I was both. All I know is that a romantic heart beats in my chest. I wanted to fall in love and have someone fall in love with me, dammit! If I wasn't going to end up successful, rich or famous, then I want to have that! But enough about my fantasizing heart...

The second reason why I scowled at what my mum said was because of the hideous outfit I was wearing. One of my eccentric friends had forced me into wearing it to a classmate's masquerade party. The thing I hated the most about the outfit was the deadly corset. Yes, deadly. These things can seriously kill a girl! Anyway, what my friend was aiming for was to make me look like Dracula's bride. The dress also had so many damn ribbons! It took me ages to put them on myself! She was going to put make-up on me when I get to the party venue.

"I like the ribbons in your hair," my mum said all of a sudden, a huge smile on her face. "They suit you."

Just when I was about to say something sarcastic, I held back. I knew my mum was just trying to calm my nerves. I was nervous about this party.

"Thank you," I said eventually with a sigh. My mum's smile widened and she looked back on the road.

I guess I had no reason to be nervous after all. Why? I never got to the party.

I should've listened to my mum when she told me to put my seatbelt on. After all, she could only know what's best.

Maybe if I listened to her, I wouldn't have ended watching my mum cry over my tombstone, wearing a dress that made me look like Dracula's bride.

Maybe if I listened... Maybe... I would've lived to fulfill my dream.

A/N: Prologue done and written in 30 minutes! Don't worry, I tend to make my prologues short. Now, what is going to happen to Aura now that she's dead because she didn't put a seatbelt on? Find out in the first chapter!
