Her smile was once the brightest thing;

it could outshine the sun.

Her laughter rang and others joined

she was a joyful one.

The years went by and she matured,

but nothing really changed.

She loved her friends and familly.

Her life was without pain.

Then someone in her early teens

brought pain into her life.

A boy’s pain tore her world in two

and tortured her inside.

For thirteen months the strife went on.

Her smile came weak, and rare.

He broke away, she stayed in pain,

but she no longer cared.

There she stayed, lost in her mind,

not thinking in her grief,

but friends were right there reaching out,

re-teaching her to see.

Her smile is back, thought not as bright,

her laughter chimes again.

It’s thanks to those who reached for her-

it’s thanks to her true friends.
