I’ll Always Remember
I’ll hold the skin together
So these scars will mend themselves
Repaired and fused
Mend all the abuse
To be whole forever
Bleeding again—never
Severed
Then tethered—
Together (again)!
For the bleeding to stop
And the skin to be clear
I’d make these scars mend
Make them disappear;
To leave a void there
Erase what we’ve shared
For it’s written in these scars—
A pen with bloody ink
And never to think;
And have skin unmarred
For I’d rather take the damage
I can manage
With a scar or two—
Or many—
Or three years worth
Since the birth
Of us, together;
Since that surrender
For each mark is a memory
Don’t take that away
Don’t make me mend the scars
Of each miserable day
Each bloody tear was worth it—
I don’t want to be brainwashed
I’d like to be whole—
Regardless of cost!
I’ll rip the skin apart
So the scars will bleed again
So I’ll never forget…
I’ll never regret;
To be damaged forever
With each vein that is severed
But at least I’ll always remember
Everything
We went through together
