Cold precipitation poured from the heavens onto the earth. Tired brown eyes closely observed the rain. The sound of the drops hitting the roof filled her hearing. The rest of the world didn't matter to her. She remembered a time when, every night it rained, she could be found at the clear slinding doors. None disturbed her here, at least not with anything short of an emergency. Often, another joined her and the noise from the rain made up their conversation. Never had she the need to be vocal. Words held the risk of ruining the evening.
Floor boards creaked under the weight of another. The vacant spot next to her became occupied. Short lime green hair had been slightly messed up, maybe from uncomfortable tossing and turning. Dark eyes gazed at the rain. For many moments they sat in silence. Finally, a smile breached the face of the green haired one. Brown eyes reflected happiness and she also smiled.
"There's nothing better than the rain..."
