Our Love

Chapter 1

I had been taken when I was a little child to that dreaded castle, safe only in my own thoughts I would dream and think of my family, my dead family they had been murdered and I had been held hostage treated like a slave along with twenty other girls.

The rain beat at my face turning it red raw I was running across the courtyard of the castle and my clothes were wet against my body, my brown hair dregs and my feet were cold. The lady of the castle snapped at me telling me to hurry up with the food because the men were hungry. When I reached the large wooden doors leading into the eating hall she took the food and beat me, for taking so long. I held back my tears long enough to return to the slaves sleeping quarters, there I curled up on my bed and cried myself to sleep usually I was only a little hurt but today I was as vulnerable as a cat in a storm I didn’t know why it was like an unknown memory.

So I must have been asleep when a dark figure stood in the doorway, blocking out the light, provided by the moon and stars. He crept towards me and knelt on the floor by the end of my bed. He whispered something and a ball of light came from his hands and worked its way towards me, as it touched me I stirred and the small light disappeared. The strange man made sure I was asleep before he left and only stopping when he reached the door he whispered something under his breath again and I glowed for a few seconds. The man walked out of the door ignoring the rain and disappeared into the misty night.

I woke up in the morning to the slave bell and dragged my heavy feet out of the straw bed, thinking about my dream it was a weird one. It was about a man and a ball of light. I pulled my body towards the eating hall and ate a disgusting breakfast of stale bread and butter. When I had finished that, I had to do my job of cleaning the bathhouse, and I hated it. It was the job I hated the most in the entire week, and I had to do some pretty disgusting jobs. Cleaning the bathhouse meant I had to scrape the hair out of the plugholes, scrub the filthy floor, wash the grimy windows, rinse out the huge tubs they use as baths and stock up on the foul smelling soap.

I was cleaning the floor when a man approached the door. He said my name in a deep voice, but I just ignored him. I thought it was a guard, I scrubbed harder. I hoped he would go away; in fact he did quite the opposite he took a step towards me and said my full name.

“Taerad Creston?” He asked

I knew was not a guard because none of them knew my full name, so I turned around and saw a man there, a man I did not know. He was wearing a long black cloak, large walking boots, browny black coloured pants, a matching shirt and a black hat that was drowning his face in shadow. The only part of his face I could see was his chin that was rough and bristly.

“My name is Lamon and I have come to find you. If you want to go follow me now”

I paused for quite some time thinking, remembering thoughts I didn’t know I still remembered I thought of people, of voices and then I saw my mother she said to me ‘you will grow up and do great things’. This is my chance I thought this is my chance to get away from this place and do great things just like my mother said. I finally came to my senses and nodded then Lamon told me to keep close I drew close to him. Then he led me around the back of the slaves sleeping quarters, where there was a gap between the wall and the small building, were we all slept.

He whispered something and I didn’t understand it, I barely even heard it but a tingling sensation went right through my body and filled me with the feeling of being able to walk through walls. A second later I did just that. Lamon pulled me right through the solid stone onto the long rocky path on the other side.

“Come, we must hurry in a few minutes somebody will notice you missing” he said to me in a low growling voice.
