I once fell in love with a girl,
Who only shattered my world,
Broken was my soul,
And frozen was my heart.

I only wanted to leave this place,
Countless times I had planned my escape,
Everything was set and everything was done,
Until I met someone.

She turned my heart back from stone,
And felt like she freed my very soul,
I fell in love with this girl,
But friends we stayed.

Scared to ask,
And even more scared to say,
That I loved her and I only wanted to know,
If I could ever let it show.

Countless times I tried,
And every timeI failed,
The scars of before,
Just ran so deep inside.

I didn’t want to hurt her,
I didn’t want to freak her out,
So friends we stayed,
Until one of us finally wasn’t afraid.

Now she moves soon,
But I try not to worry much,
For I know she will wait for me,
As I will for her.

And as this poem comes to a close,
I just want her to know,
As a friend I loved her,
And now it only grows.
