Pratfall

Looking back, I realise I should have been suspicious when everything I did that morning went right. Fate had saved it up for noon, when I tripped as I entered the restaurant for an important business lunch.

I fell against a waiter, causing him to slosh soup out of the bowls he bore, onto my client. With a yelp, he jumped out his chair dragging the tablecloth away, knocking over everything on it, and I came to rest part way under the table, just where the spilt wine was dripping over the edge. Onto my suit. Dry cleaning was not the issue.
