resignation

the voice dies as does the mind
and he hears not what others have to say
he cares only for the hole which (never there, never filled) grows with
every glance drives home the point (a nail in his coffin)
he's alone, and the worse for wear, and no one wanted him before (so why would they now)
with each passing day he questions the motives that make him smile (his mask has no flaws),
.......................................................................that make him pretend that everything will be alright
..........................................................................................................that he will find someone
inside he's terrified of the thought of death (but what is death in the face of life such as he knows?)
..........with no outward contact to settle the storm inside.
he has friends, but they, too, betray. in his group, his clique, his posse, his last and most personal sanctum,
...........he is defiled. he alone enjoys no intimacy, no other half.
so with the wobble of the earth and the pull of the moon, he joins the peaceful waters and knows his cares are gone (soon).
