Legend has it that the great Greek poet, Homer, literally died of chagrin when he couldn’t solve a riddle posed to him by a group of fishermen. It is written in mythology that the ancient travelers through Thebes lost their lives because the riddle of the Sphinx. In folklore, the riddle is a powerful thing which made heroes out of men who commanded little in stature but a great deal in mind.

Every riddle in this collection is by my own creation, and was written with the same attention to the poetry of the clues as well as the riddle itself. Don’t let the metaphorical language fool you, for every single piece describes something quite commonplace. I’ve found that the hardest things to see in life are those which are right in front of your eyes. The answers are written backwards at the bottom of the page.

I welcome all questions, comments and criticisms. I will even email you a full explanation for any of the riddles if you wish. But for now, enjoy…
