Family Reunion

As a girl, I was expected to stay out of fights

Just to avoid getting a hole in my tights

I always believed that this was unfair

My brother never got reprimanded for holes in his underwear

One family reunion with all the cousins, second and third

All munching away like a white cattle herd

My uncle thought it would be funny to throw

A glob of potato salad at our quite large cousin Joe

Now Joe first ate the expelled lump like a pig

As I mentioned, cousin Joe was a bit big

He jumped across the table, arms around uncles neck

Mere seconds later, the family all fighting and the table a wreck

I yelled “STOP” at the top of my lunges

The whole lot just blink as they watched me run

Into the washroom I ran as fast as I could

And out again screaming, “CONTINUE ALLS GOOD!”

I jumped on the back of the first person I saw

And pulled at his hair until his scalp was raw

My mother pulled me off and put me into the car

We drove off and didn’t get far

Before the lecture began about my un-lady ways

I sighed thinking this will last for days

Mom told me that it wasn’t right for a girl to fight

What would have happened if I had ripped my tights

I pondered for a minute as to what respond

A small smirked appear not after long

I told her not to worry about my tights anymore

For they were in the washroom at the park on the floor.
