Author's Note: I admit, it's not one of my best. This is another retrospective song of mine written in the third person. The events took place over five years ago & I decided to post it for those who fell that they're the only ones who've felt this way & "lived" this way & also so you know that yes, you can move past it, it just takes dedication & hard work.
You spend your nights out with people you call your friends
You never think what'll happen if you keep this up
Thinking what you don't know won't hurt you
This isn't the kind of vacation from reality you need
No one can save you
Some have tried
All have failed
You've done more harm to yourself than has been done to you
There's no one who can save you from yourself
Except for you
You say you hate the drugs & alcohol of your nightly life
Now if only they didn't keep calling to you
The days drag on as you wait for the nights that find you alone
And longing for the company you once had
No one can save you
Some have tried
All have failed
You've done more harm to yourself than has been done to you
There's no one who can save you from yourself
Except for you
It's getting tougher for you to keep it all together
While waiting for things to be the way you want
They make promises they never intended to keep
And they don't care about letting you down
You'd be better off if you could just forget about them
No one can save you
Some have tried
All have failed
You've done more harm to yourself than has been done to you
There's no one who can save you from yourself
Except for you
It's up to you now
Only you can save yourself
Forget about them
You'll be stronger
And it could even get you clean & sober
You'll heal a lot better without them there to drag you down
