The night loves me.
Pale moonlight sliver beams on my pillow,
Kissing me awake,
Daring me to come out and dream.

Stepping off the windowsill,
I get up and dance
Along paths teeming with white jasmine,
And wayward stalks of grass.

Winter has breathed her spell on me
And time has stopped for my play.
Laughing as the nippy wind rushes by,
I don’t mind the silken touch
Turning into an ice slide.

Over swollen rivers too cold to touch
But beautiful to watch
I smile and the night smiles back
Andhe and I enjoy the scenery.
Onlywe twoare awake
While everyone else is fast asleep
and we laugh at the novelty of being alone together.

As the moon skips along the waves beside me,
I sing in the dark
Under pale stars too young to guide me way
And light stars too quiet to confess
How they really feel
And stars shooting passing quickly
Reminding me I must find my own.

Bound back in sparse clouds
I sigh contentedly and turn.
Yes, the night loves me best
