Title: A story told Fantasy
I have always respect my brother for everything he does. I believe solely that his thoughts were never wrong. How wrong I was when I found out his corruption. I could hardly believe my eyes.
'For you, my little sister, I believe in your ability.' The statement and his smile. It was that that made me work so hard to achieve what I have now. To become who I am now.
I walked into his office. He was sitting there, in his favourite black arm-chair, looking through his pile of files. My presence alerted him as he pondered over the file he was holding to meet me by the eyes. I could see no sense of surprise from him to seeing me here.
“Hi, big brother,” I greeted unnaturally, holding on to my serious look. He placed his file down, his eyes meeting mine again. I felt like I was being looked inside out. He seems to know why I was here.
“Are you here as my dear little sister or as a Special Agent?” He asked.
I stood at the spot, dumbfounded. My eyes were on him. I found no answer to his question. Who am I now? Realize he could never get an answer from me, his face saddened, stood up and walked around the table.
“If you are here as an agent, I have nothing to say to you, you can leave,” He replied as he walked past me and left the room. I closed my eyes and sighed. It was the end of our conversation. I knew, and respected it. I left in silence for home.
Even if I was determined to expose his corrupted way, I was still fighting with myself. He is, after all, my brother. The same blood that flows within us, now and ever. I was not sure if I would bear to see him in jail, in pain. While thinking of this, I found myself back at my house. I reached into my pocket to find something else in my pocket.
It was my brother's house key. I stared at it for a while. Was it meant for me to find it? Probably. But why? Is he living his life in pain already? The same statement he said to me played in my head. His sad face from before. I knew what I have to do.
I drove over to my brother's house and entered his house. I did hesitate for a moment at the doorway, thinking if it was wise to do so. His things were packed neatly in place. I walked around and found his study room where his computer was. I switched it on, neither excited or happy, rather fear came upon me. I knew I could find something in the computer, something that will crash my brother's whole life.
I searched through the database, but I found nothing suspicious. Just as I was about to give in, I spotted a file name 'Murphy'. Out of curiosity, I moved the mouse over and clicked on it. A window appeared, asking for password. I knew, at once, I had found the file. I shut my eyes tight, acknowledging myself I can no longer turn back.
Opening my eyes once again and looked at the screen, I entered remotely to my computer and started my password-cracking application. I sat back and stared around his room. The picture of his wife and son was sitting in front. I smiled a little. It was then I realized there was another picture behind that. I reached out for it and opened the frame. Another photo dropped out of the frame and onto the floor. I took the picture up and was surprised by the photo.
It was the photo I took with my brother before I left for United States. For that very moment, as if time had frozen itself, I just stared blankly at the photo. Just then, a beep came from the computer alerted me as I turned towards the screen. I gasped at the password cracked. It was my full name. His password was my name. I hit on enter and the file opened. I was right about the file. It contained all the account numbers of the amount of money that was being “swallowed” by the members of the government. I downloaded the file to my computer. Place everything in place and left. The moment I left the house, I knew all was about to end.
I went back to my office and printed the data out. My officer was surprised by the data I obtained and immediately gave orders for us to arrest the members involved while informed the president.
I tagged along with my colleagues to arrest my brother. When we arrived at his apartment, he was already standing outside. He spotted me and moved towards me. My colleague went towards him to show him the warrant for his arrest but he ignored them as he continued towards me. I stood at my spot and looked at him moved. He was smiling. His smile made my heart break. He stopped in front of me.
“I know you will do fine, my dear little sister, for your ability tells a lot,” He smiled as he handled me the same photo I was staring at a while ago and panted my head. “Look after Shan for me while I am gone will you?”
I felt hot tears flowing down my cheeks, sobbed, “Yes, my brother.” I hugged him for a while before he left with the others back to headquarter. I watched as he left, and smiled mildly. My partner, and also my sole rival, Rex walked towards me.
“So how are you feeling?” He asked.
“Pretty fine, I guess,” I replied, “The night will be a little lonely from now on I guess.”
“The night will never be lonely as long as I am alive,” He said. I looked at him, while drying my tears. He blushed slightly and I smiled a little more.
“You are probably right,” I whispered as I felt the wind blew past us into the dark night.
