I. Knowledge is purposeless without Understanding;

Understanding is purposeless without Wisdom.

Wisdom is useless without Understanding;

Understanding requires Knowledge.

II. Knowledge is a raw ore;

Understanding is a key made from that ore;

Wisdom is the ability to use that key to open the door to great things.

III. Achievement, without the fullness of mind, body, and spirit behind it is but a footnote in the annals of time.

IV. Complete devotion is paid in steel, bending and bowing yet unwavering;

Half-heartedness is paid in glass, brittle and sensitive to the most subtle touch.

V. We plumb the unfathomable depths;

The proof comes only when our line runs out.

VI. Truth is found where the heart and mind are in harmony;

Where there is discord is found falsehood.

VII. Redemption is a scalding bath—painful, yet cleansing and refreshing.

VIII. From the tired mind comes sleepiness;

From the tired body, exhaustion;

And from the tired spirit, surrender.

IX. What is a moment?—A moment is everything!

X. Hiding is best done by one who knows what to look for.

XI. One must be careful in distinguishing the control of a tendency and the tendency itself, for a man who sneezes oftentimes allows himself to sneeze.

XII. Life is worth a thousand deaths, and joy is worth a tear.

XIII. A man’s greatness is often measured not in the sum of great acts, but in the magnitude of a single act.

XIV. Neutrality is indecision followed by action in no particular direction;

Apathy is indecision followed by no action at all.
