Now you know the tingly feeling
The tickle on the back of your neck
The itch that won’t go away
Like you’ve lost something you’ve had forever
And there’s something there
Just out of reach
Telling you where it is
The ultimate truth?
Something that makes the world
Make more sense
Defines who you are
It’s big and tiny
And mystical and solid
And perfect
And you don’t have it
But it is at the lowest points in your life
When the itch becomes intolerable
Because it taunts you
And you still can’t find it
So you drive it away
By replacing it with something stronger
And the same feeling that is heaven
On your best days
Is hell and shame and fear and pain
On your worst.
