Hundreds of miles away from the Apath Underground, a beautiful young woman by the name of Sara was busy getting ready for bed. Her long, waist length red hair was done up into a pony tail, which kept it out of her face when she slept. She wore pink softy pajamas that would keep her warm through the cold Greenland nights without racking up a terrible heating bill.

Sara was sipping from a cool glass of water when it happened. From nowhere, she heard a blood curdling scream. The perfect silence that had spread throughout the tiny house was shattered and it startled poor Sara so badly that she slipped and fell to the floor, the cup she had been drinking from shattering and soaking her in the process.

With a sigh, she took off her wet shirt and threw it into the laundry. Her brother was killing again.

Sara, ever since the day her twin brother Gabriel was activated, had been able to feel bits and pieces of his emotions. Normally it never affected her, but whenever he killed, she could hear him scream in her mind.

It wasn't always that way. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, she would feel a tiny pang of regret, or alternately a twinge of success, from her dear brother. But recently, every time he killed, Sara would hear the same scream she had just heard.

She couldn't help but wonder what had changed. A month or so ago, she had felt her brother become badly hurt. Since then... the screams...

There was another one just then, but Sara had sat down just in case, throwing a blanket over her shoulders to keep her warm, and to hide from her own eyes the terrible black scars that crisscrossed her body. In the ten years she had been away from the Underground, the scars she got that fateful day had never healed. She knew it was foolish to try and hide them after all of these years, from herself even, but she couldn't help but be self-conscious of the disfigurement that kept her alone, despite her otherwise perfect appearance.

Sara had decided that she would go to meet her brother soon. She knew his thoughts, or at very least his surface emotions... and she had long since begun to fall for him. She also wanted to know why he was screaming, to find the source of his pain...

Cat-like, she stretched and yawned. It had been a few minutes since the last outburst and the sounds in her skull had quieted down. She hoped that her twin had found peace, at least for the rest of the night. In her room, the covers were soon atop her body, and the warmth was lulling her to sleep.

Eyes closed, mouth puckered, she imagined her brother, all smiles, looking deep into her eyes, a reflection of his own. Then he would move to kiss her and...

A tingle ran up her spine and she gave a weak moan before fading into blissful unconsciousness. For that night, at least, Glitch was at ease, and thus, both of them were.
