Sea of Heads

By the time I had gotten up the courage to call Aiden it was already well into Wednesday afternoon, a few hours before we were to perform. I was really worried about what he would make of the short notice and at the very least expected him to be a bit put off. After all we were performing in a few short hours and as an AR person working for a successful independent label he most likely didn’t have a lot of free time. I was actually a bit worried about how calm he was taking the news.

“Do you mind if a bring along a few friends to check the band out” he asked

“No that should be cool but the place is going to be a bit crowded so if you want to get a good seat near the front, I would advise you to get there as early as possible,” I told him.

Wednesday nights weren’t as crowded as Friday’s but the bar would still be packed.

“Are you guys going to play the same tracks that were on your demo” he asked me before letting out a quiet yawn.

Apparently I had just woken him up from his afternoon nap. He told me that he had just gotten in from the studio where he was co-producing the second heavily anticipated Saber album. They were a Canadian heavy metal band with a huge fan base. Not really my cup of tea but Bobby is a huge fan. He would go bananas when I told him.

“Yeah, our set is going to consist mainly of those songs but we also have a few lesser known tracks as well as a couple new things that we’ve been working on,” I told him eagerly. It was hard for me to contain myself and I tried really hard not to start gushing over our set list.

“You sound really happy today” he said. Obviously I wasn’t doing as good of a job as I had been hoping.” I’ve never heard you sound so animated before”.

“Well last time I checked, you and I weren’t the closest of friends”.

Shit, why do I have to be such a bitch sometimes? This boy really does bring out the worst in me and I have no clue why.

“Wow, calm down. No need to get so snotty, I was just making an observation”.

His voice was starting to get louder and I could tell he was beginning to get angry.

“I wasn’t trying to offend you”.

“I know that and I apologize”, I told him trying to make my voice as soothing as possible.

“I don’t know why I’m such a bitch around you but I promise that it’s not on purpose”.

‘I should hope not,” he said before letting out a laugh. “You know, I’ve never had to work so hard to try and get a girl to like me before.

“Don’t worry baby, I’m sure your ego will survive”

“Do you see him” I heard Andre whisper frantically to Lonnie.

“No but there’s still time” she whispered back to him before she went onstage to plug in her bass.

Bobby and I exchanged glances. They had been doing this for the last half hour and the sad thing was I doubt they even noticed.

Taking our cue from Lonnie, Bobby and Andre headed onto the stage to help set up their instruments while I headed over to the bar to get us some water.

With the lights glare shinning heavily on us as well as the club being filled we tended to get dehydrated quickly and so I became water girl.

“Have you seen him yet” I asked Marty at the bar. The minute we entered the club I had enlisted him to be my look out.

“Not yet honey” he told me before sliding over four bottles water. “Are you sure you told him it was today.”

“Not you to” I groaned jokingly. The guys have only just stopped asking me that question. Some of our friends from school were here and those that knew of the deal were curious as well.

“I’m sorry Brie” he told me and I smiled affectionately at the nickname.

“HOLY SHIT” someone cried out from across the room.

I turned toward the stage to see what the commotion was about but none of my friends were saying anything. They were all to busy staring at the door. I turned to my right.

At first I couldn’t see anything through the crowd but eventually the sea of heads began to shift as somewhere in the middle people were moving. I heard excited murmurs but they were to quiet for me to distinguish properly.

Then the murmurs began to grow into full fledged shrieks.

“O my God I can’t believe it’s them”

“He’s so cute”

“Can’t believe how short he is”

“Marry me Donnie”

And that’s when I saw them. Right in the middle of the sea of heads stood Aiden; Donnie Brookes lead singer/guitarists of the band Saber, and Adam Fletcher, former lead singer of the band Flatine and current CEO of Round-About-Records.

Holy shit indeed

A/N: For those of you still reading this story, I apologize for the wait. It took me a while to come up with this next chapter. It turned out better than I expected and I hope you like it. Also please don't hesitate to review because your opinion is greatly appreciated.
