Yumi Ohara was seventeen; a junior in high school and today was her birthday. She walked down stairs from her bedroom to the kitchen for breakfast.

"Good morning Yumi." Her grandmother said to her as she entered the kitchen

"Morning Grandma. Huh where's Grandpa and Mom?" Yumi said back as she put two pieces of bread in to the toaster

"Your mother had to go to work early and Shiro (Yumi's grandpa) also had some very important things to do at his dojo, the both of them were really sad they couldn't wait for you to wake up.Anyways it's your birthday today Yumi, and I have a very special present for you." Her grandma told her and then went in to the next room and Yumi began to hear her rummaging through her old Chinese cabinet

"Really, what is it?" Yumi asked as she sat down with her toast and milk

"I'll show you if I can just find it, ah here it is." Yumi heard her grandma say.

Yumi's grandma walked back in to the kitchen with a blue wooden box and sat it down in front of Yumi and said, "Go on open it."

Yumi nodded and opened the box; inside on a silver chain was an oval shaped sapphire.

"Grandma this is beautiful!" Yumi exclaimed as she put it around her neck

"This has been passed down in our family for generations, it's called the jewel of water." Yumi's grandmother told her

"Thank you Grandma, I love it." Yumi said as she hugged her

After breakfast Yumi put on her shoes and started walking to school. While on her way Yumi kept looking at the jewel of water as she held it in her hand

"Ah!" Yumi gasped when she thought she saw the jewel glow blue for a moment. Her head jerked up and looked around to see if anyone else had seen, no one was staring at her. She looked back down at the sapphire, which wasn't glowing. Maybe she had just imagined it. Yumi kept walking but she had a weird feeling like someone was watching her or something. She shrugged it off and kept walking on to school.

Meanwhile a boy, who seemed about the same age as Yumi, stood on top of a tall building looking down on the city of Tokyo.

"Alright, I know it's somewhere in this city, if I can find it before it makes its choice then I can get my powers back." The boy said to himself.

Yumi's day went by normally, many of her friends wished her a happy birthday. She was especially happy Shinji Tokimi, the boy she had had a crush on ever since she could remember, had wished her a happy birthday as well.She thought he was a girls dream with short black hair and emerald green eyes.

She had gym class last and today they were swimming. After that everyone went back in to the locker room and changed back in to their school uniforms then went home. Yumi had been the last one to change because the gym teacher had wanted to ask her why she hadn't done the drills and merely stayed in the shallow end. Yumi explained that she didn't know how to swim but the teacher told her that if she couldn't do the swimming drills and exercises that it would severely affect her grade.

By the time Yumi had gotten out of the locker room everyone else had already headed home. She walked down the hall toward the gym doors that lead outside; she thought it would be faster to go this way than to go through the school to get to the main exit. As she walked passed the doors that lead outside to the pool area she heard voices. "C'mon join up with us!"

Yumi looked out the small window in the door and saw out by the pool a boy with short brown hair and another boy with long shoulder length black hair.

"No! You know that no one can control the power of Eon, what you're saying is ludicrous!" The boy with short brown hair said sternly

"You were always the most rebellious one of us all, I thought you'd be interested in this. Now find that damn jewel and quit being so close minded!" the longhaired one yelled at the other

"Listen to you, Earth you've been possessed, that man has warped your mind." The brown haired boy told the other one

"Very well then Water, if you won't come with me willingly then I'll drag you there by your ankles if I have to." The one called Earth said and got in to a fighting stance and the other one did the same.

'Water? Earth? Are those their real names? How weird. WAIT! They aren't gonna fight are they? They'll definitely get caught.' Yumi thought to herself then ran through the doors and yelled, "Don't fight you two, if you do you'll definitely get caught and get in trouble."

The two of them looked at her confused wondering what she meant.

"What is she talking about, get in trouble by who?" the short-haired boy asked

"Beats me." Earth replied then looked back at the other boy. "Now then my old comrade let me show you the power that Chang Urama has bestowed upon me, the power you are so resistant to attain!" Dirt and rocks began to come from the ground and wrap around Earth's body eventually creating armor.

The other boy stood their unimpressed while Yumi on the other hand was standing there with her mouth open. 'Who in the world is this guy, some kind of sorcerer? And what is he gonna do now?' Yumi thought

"Big deal, so now you can transform in to your spirit form without a master; I don't see how he gave you more power considering its already yours to begin with" The short-haired boy said in a dullish tone then ran and jumped at the armored figure and attempted to spin kick him. It didn't work though, once his leg was extended Earth grabbed it and he slammed him against the chain-link fence that enclosed the pool area then tossed his body through the air all the way over the pool. The boy landed about ten feet from where Yumi had been watching.

'This is just horrible he's gonna kill him, I wish I could help him somehow.' Yumi thought. That's when she noticed the Jewel glowing a brilliant blue light that was ten times brighter than before. This caught both boys' attention as they stared over in Yumi's direction.

"The Jewel of Water! Then she must be the priestess!" Earth shouted. He gave a hand gesture and a huge rock erupted from the ground and floated above his head. He made a throwing gesture and the rock soared toward Yumi.

The boy called Water had still been on the ground after being thrown saw the other boy and immediately jumped up and ran full speed at Yumi. He wrapped his arms around her waist and threw them both to the ground barely dodging the rock. "Are you alright?" He asked

"Y-yes, I'm fine." Yumi told him

"Good." He said as he got off of her, "Quick use the jewel."

Yumi got up and asked, "Use the jewel? How?

A sweat drop appeared on his forehead and his eye twitched then he turned around to see Earth who had summoned dozens of fist size rocks and he knew what he tended to do with them. His looked behind him at Yumi and said as fast as he could, "LOOK JUST PRAY WITH IT THAT I CAN HAVE THE POWER TO STOP HIM!"

Rocks were being hurled at the two but Water stepped in front of Yumi to keep her from getting hurt but it resulted in him being hit by every rock. Yumi wanted to stop this so she took the sapphire in both hands and closed her eyes. 'Jewel of Water, please, please aid this boy in stopping that monster' She prayed in her head. When she opened her eyes the boy in front of her was enveloped in water and jewel was once again glowing. Once the water had vanished from him she could tell he had changed. He now wore a blue outfit, his hair had become a very light blue, and when he turned around and nodded at her she could see his eyes had become a deep blue. 'What, now he's changed too? Who are these people?' Yumi thought

"Well, now it's gonna get interesting, even though you were always the weakest element of us all." Earth said

Water didn't say anything but with a simple hand movement a good amount of the water in the pool erupted and slammed in to the cocky boy with the force of a tidal wave.

While this whole thing had been going on a woman sitting in a black limousine had been watching; she pulled out cell phone when the water struck Earth. "Sir, we have a problem, the water spirit has transformed."

"I see, then bring Earth back we can not risk losing him in an attempt to gain another element." The man on the other end instructed

"Yes sir" the woman said then stuck her head out the window and yelled out, "We've been ordered to return now!"

Earth heard this and got up with a limb, hopped over the fence, got into the limo, and they drove off. After this the boy's appearance changed back to normal then looked over to Yumi and took a step toward her. Yumi was at this point was about as freaked out a person could get so when he stepped in her direction she ran for it.
