You’re love cannot be.

It mustn’t be allowed.

It’s against all the rules,

But you continue to trespass.

My heart isn’t open

Though you try to come in.

You’re working so hard

Picking at the lock.

You don’t bother to find

The key to my heart.

It seems to take too much time

But it shouldn’t happen.

“Just walk away.

Leave me alone.”

Those words will not exit.

My dry mouth cannot speak.

Can you not go?

Are you unable to move?

Do you love me for real?

Or am I just another lover?

We’re getting closer

As I take the bait.

You’re reeling me in

And I do not fight.

An obstacle comes.

Snags the line harshly.

It’s always been coming

But we’ve just ignored it.

Reality strikes our heads.

This is not just a bump.

The road went off trail

And we hit a tree.

We saw it coming

But we were too foolish to swerve.

Thanks to this challenge

I have come to my senses.

My heart is now double bolted.

It’ll take more than a pick.

Heavy explosives are needed.

And I’ll put up more guards still.

The tree still stands strong though

No matter how many times you hit it.

You strike it harder.

Not a leaf falls.

Only an axe will knock him.

Only my heart’s love will help.

But the door will not open.

The key to my heart is still lost.
