The American Song

Oh flag, why must you stand so proud and tall?

With your dainty little stars and stripes-

Can’t you understand that we don’t want you at all?

We’re Americans, and we love to be free,

But we don’t like livin up to it.

So why don’t you just go away and hid yourself,

And while you’re at it, get rid of the taxes!

Oh, and don’t go remindin us again and again

About this dysfunctional generation we began

And…well…I don’t really like the shape of that star…

So I’ll just sue the government for that!

Whaddya mean? Oh, there’s nothing wrong!

Cause this is what I call The American Song

We sure like to complain about the current president

Even though we can’t do no better.

We just love to take the Lord’s name in vain,

But—oh Lordy! Here come those terrorists!

Lets all go get born again!

So, old flag, as you can see,

This thing we have, it’s just not meant to be

So lets go our nice separate ways

And hope our country sees better days.

A bit of badly used sarcasm there. I wrote this way back when on the last day of the year.

Knock yourself out.
