This is a special kind of poem called a two-voice poem, and to be enjoyed it has to be read the proper way, and the effect is best when you have someone else to read it with you. There are two differentvoice speaking in this poem. Onevoice is very feeling, very two, who's verses are italicized, is a tough guy, the kind of person who pushes their emotions way deep down and tries to keep everything they feel hidden inside. The catch is both voices belong to the same person, they are their inner voices and they conflict.

To read this poem, read from left to right. (Note: Ordinarily this type of poem would be spaced with voice 1 on theleft hand side and voice2 on the right, but for some reason won't let me use the tab key) When you see two verses on the same line, those verses must be readsimotaniously (together). Example: I love you --> Its a lie --> I feel it deep inside --> Look how weak the little boy is --> Isn't he stupid?

If you have a second person reading with you, have them read only the text in italics.

Inside Out

I love you

It’s a lie

I feel it deep inside

Look how weak the little boy is

Isn’t he stupid?

I want to be close

Stay away

Don’t be weak

Come closer

Stay away

Safe inside

I’m so cold Its so cold

Out there

In here

You must be strong

I feel so tired

My eyes are burning

Ignore it

My hands are bleeding

Forget it

My legs are breaking Grit your teeth and bare it

Be strong

I feel me dying

Here alone in the dark

How these feelings pain me so How these feelings pain me so

No worries, folks. ;-) This was written for a school assiment last year, and I am so over it.
