So Much More

On the edge of something

I don’t want to understand

And I’m sitting here like a child

Unmoving, paralyzed with juvenile fear

I’m missing things I never had

I’m shedding tears I never cried

I need something so much more

Than small town sun

And island suburbia

I need to break free of the walls of this town

Shake the borders down

Leave everything behind

Cruise bridges taller than the stars

Let the top down, the wind blow

And dance on hills that may not even exist

I’ll find them though

They’re here in my mind,

I know I’ll find them in my good time

The patches of daylight outside haunt me every day

Tauntingly they say,

What are you doing to make this moment worth while

Is it going to be enough

When you turn out the light

And tuck the covers in tight

Will you feel full

With the soul you bare

Will you ever get out there

Or will you weep for letting these days pass you by

Live the life that was never promised to you

Because if you’re just going to stare longingly

At these beautiful days you’re given

You’ll never move on from sitting there

Like a child

Paralyzed with fear

The fear of failing

Falling

Living
