I awoke that summer day, the sun was so bright

My body felt heated by the bright summer light

I was still young, not a sixth grader yet

When I learned life was all a bet

For lunch that day I ate macaroni and cheese

My mother said quietly, “Pass the salt please”

We went out for a drive

Like taking a dive

All I can remember of the next day

Was sitting around while my grandma told people to pray

That’s when I learned, to God we should pray

For his miracles work each little way

My mother awoke from her coma and said

“If God hadn’t watched out, I would be dead”

My mother is fine, just some scars

If you think she’s bad, take a look at the cars

Everyday I give God a little time

And so I say to end this rhyme

Always love God, no matter what

He’ll always be there when you’re stuck in a rut
