Ladder by: TAS
Hammer and nails; wood and glue
A young boy's pride and daddy too
Rickety stairs leading the way
A platform spread in disarray
When ask what he's doing
He hollers down in reply
He dreams of flying
And touching the sky
Wanting to hold them in his hand
Dreaming of forever
Knowing it will end
Going up a ladder
Taking it rung by rung
Eyes on where he's going
Living takes so long
So many years from his dreams back then
All grown up with diploma in hand
Setting his sights and making his plan
He's going to make it
From where he stands on the ground
Going to climb to the top and have a look around
Gonna be someone and make papa proud
Wanting to hold them in his hand
Dreaming of forever
Knowing it will end
Going up a ladder
Taking it rung by rung
Eyes on where he's going
Living for a dawn
Looking pale beneath the sheets
Many years have passed him by
Yet only did his time spent fly
All those years of sleeping dreams
Slowing down now, losing steam
One thing left he has to try
The little boy still wants to fly
The doctors turn away
His consciousness left unattended
He spreads his wings and flies away
