Just lying here with my eyes shut
Asking for your love
Wishing you would take me as I am
As I am.
Something unexpected
And yet so familiar
Your hand rests upon my head
Softly
But then you turn away.
I pretend it's all OK
There there are no feelings there
When really, they run so deep
So deep that I cannot
find the place they start
Even if I wanted to.
Eyes still tightly shut
I look at you
But you left me lifetimes ago.
