A Game Of Cards.

On a cold stormy night in a pub

Four men decide to play a game of cards

A young lawyer, a retired banker

A politician and a beggar

The cards are shuffled

Then they’re dealt

The players pick them up

And arrange them to their preference

The game starts

The cards are played

Cautiously and carefully

Nervously and apprehensively

Eyes wander about

Darting left and right

Sweat forms on foreheads

But it’s not from the heat

While the tension rises

The suspicion mounts

Each person is ready to snap

At any given cause

As the game draws to an end

The tension reaches its peak

Each player puts his last card down

Not knowing if it will bring victory or cause defeat

The beggar’s eyes are bright

For he has won

But he is only thinking of

The meal he will be taking
