Eyes of a Child

Staring into wide eyes,

The wide eyes of a child

Eyes longing, imploring,

Filled with the Innocence of a child.

Curious, wonder filled eyes.

Forever young some say.

Open to the world, for

The world to see.

So young, so understanding

Of the world, yet understanding

Naught at all.

Trial comes, and dark times roll

Race of a man, rape of a girl.

Nothing to save him now, but

The bright eyes of a child.

Staring into the eyes of this child,

A single thought comes to mind.

An Innocence lost, so bright and

True, coming from the eyes of

This child.

One choice left: live

And let live, for now.

No blood spilt, no innocence lost.

Saved by the eyes of a child.

Staring into wide eyes,

The eyes of a child

Eyes longing, imploring.

Saved by the Innocence of a child.
