Chapter 2 – I thought I was in Paradise

We finally got up around 3, our arms still wrapped around each other. It was great having parents that were barely ever home. We had a nice leisurely breakfast (could you call it breakfast?) sitting on the couch, our bodies settling into each other. We fit. And it was good. I scrabbled around the couch for a while and finally found the remote and flipped on the TV. Womp. The sound of guitars immediately started blaring from the black box, and I allowed the screen to fully turn on before turning it down. Searching through the guide for a good movie, I finally found Edward Scissorhands, and we settled in to watch one of our favorite movies.

This was how our lives together had gone so far. Fun at night, lounging around during the day. School was just a boring interruption that wouldn’t be over for another year and a half. We knew each other inside and out, people said we knew each other too well. But what does it matter? We were happy, right? That’s what we said to each other. That’s what we thought. At least, that’s what he thought.

And the scary thing is, I really thought I loved him. He was beautiful, with those grey eyes that made my heart flutter, and his soft mouth that smiled just for me. That mouth that was beautiful and amazing and had kissed me into silence so many times. He was intelligent, taking AP classes and getting A’s with barely any studying. He was also street smart, what with his life as a teenage runaway for a year. He smoked, but whatever. He didn’t smoke around me unless he really needed one. He was also one of the sweetest guys you would ever meet. He was perfect.

But it wasn’t enough for me. Because later that night, when Andrew had gone home, Taylor came over. She just smiled her soft sad smile at me, and I knew I couldn’t give up on her. She needed me. With her big blue eyes, the ones that lit up when she saw me, I couldn’t help it. Call me weak. I loved her too.

She would come over sporadically, and I would help her with whatever her problems were at the time. I won’t disclose them because they’re her problems. I would kiss them away into the night, and she would confirm what I thought:

I thought I was in paradise.

A/N: sorry this is short. I needed to just put this chapter in. I don’t want life before to be all drawn out, because it’s the drama that matters. And sorry if I don’t update much. Writer’s block, you know.
