Whatchamacallme: I have no clue on earth where this came from. I don’t know what the Nightmare is exactly, nor do I know who the girl’s Savior is. So, read, and enjoy. This is very strange....
The sound of running feet and a pounding heart filled the air, and the small tree frog on a ginkgo leaf could see a little girl tearing though his forest. She appeared terrified of whatever nightmare followed her, as she kept glancing over her shoulder to see if it was following.
A loud whoosh of air as the girl rushed by him, and he saw why she ran. It was a Nightmare. A ghoulishly black thing that plunged ahead on all four legs with its bloody fangs gleaming dark crimson in the poor tree-filtered moonlight.
The frog hopped closer to the trunk of the tree in his fright. He did not want to come too close with such an evil thing, for it surely would kill you if you were near enough. Alas, the little tree frog was too near, and he dropped dead from his perch.
The Nightmare was oblivious of the frog’s death as it tore after its prey. It could smell the innocence of the girl, nigh ten years old. Lovely innocence that would be swallowed by his rank evil self. It knew that it would feast well tonight, if only it could catch her. This chase was taking far too long, and the Nightmare was confused. What could possibly be giving this mere girl more endurance than it? Anger lent the Terror of the Night more speed and soon it would overtake her. Closer. Not long now. It could smell her sweet innocence. It opened its horrible maw.
The girl looked back and wished she hadn’t. There it was. Right behind her. She was tiring quickly and she knew that she would be dead if she tried to climb a tree. Her lungs burned and she was gasping for breath. Where was her Savior? The One who promised to watch out for her?
Where was He?
She was terrified.
Where was He?
She began to slow.
Where was He?
The Nightmare caught up.
Where wa—
Innocence was spilt.
