“Alone”

How long have I been standing
In this vast empty place?
Days?
Months?
Years?
I’ve lost all track of time.

I feel as though something is calling me,
But I see nothing.
Not a human soul within sight.
There are shadows lurking everywhere.
But none dare to show their face.

Again, come the faint whispers.
I turn around to see…
Nothing…
It is dark
The only sound is my shallow breathing.
And the whispers…

Sinking to what is supposed to be the ground,
I am falling…
Falling into a black abyss.
Where am I going?
There is no depth to this pit that I am in…

I see a bright light.
Appearing suddenly before me,
It seems to be inviting me.
Should I go?
Do I have a choice?

No longer am I surrounded by darkness,
But light…
And yet,
I’m still alone.
